Waiting for a Star to Fall by Boy Meets Girl (1988)

Apr 2, 2022

An Uber I was riding in this week had the radio tuned to 87.7 MeTV FM, a Chicago station that plays easy-listening oldies and soft rock from the 60s-90s. It triggered memories of listening to MeTV a few years ago with my old roommates through a busted combination radio/tape/record player in our kitchen, rocking out to classics by The Carpenters, ABBA, and Bread, and discovering some new (to us) jams along the way (sandwiched between ads clearly directed at the post-retirement age demographic).

Last night, I put MeTV on to keep us company while doing the dull, physical chore of repainting my bedroom with my girlfriend, and it turned up this cheesy yet weirdly energizing soft rock jam from the 80s. Rip that sax!!!

Some more jams

Fools Rush In by Ricky Nelson (1963)

Such a pretty, sad little song from Ricky Nelson. I love the guitar solo + rhythm throughout.

Your Wildest Dreams by The Moody Blues (1986)

Before last night I thought the Moody Blues' only good song was 'Nights in White Satin' (1972). How wrong I was.

Gold nugget comment of the week

I think I'll be fine as long as there's music to discover.
Seen under the video 'Herb Ellis & Remo Palmier – Windflower (1978)' on the 'Tube. Unreal amount of good stuff out there 🤯

Context for this week's jam

Chicago weather: Cloudy with rain and snow. High 42F. SSE winds shifting to WSW at 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 100%.
